Evergreen

Fourth Tuesday of each month

The purpose of the Evergreen Ministry is to minister to and through those who are fifty years of age and older. For the past eleven years, this ministry has been diligent in accomplishing that goal.

Ministry to our senior saints includes our get-togethers on the fourth Tuesday of each month. These meetings include special speakers on various subjects of interest to seniors, viewing excellent videos from time to time and interesting readings. We also enjoy a lively interchange of lives shared together in Bible study, prayer, planning ministry functions and fellowship around the table sharing in a meal.

Other ministries to our mature adults involve providing transportation, visiting those who are ill or have experienced the death of a loved one and making other calls in the home either in person or by phone. Trips to special events are a part of this ministry. We visit the Stained Glass Theater, go on fun outings to places such as Chicken and Pickin’, The Living Christmas Tree performance at Ozark Christian College, and a wiener roast and fishing.

Ministry through our Evergreen participants is fulfilled in several ways. Volunteers serve on five specific ministries that function continually throughout the year: the card ministry, which mails cards to people for all occasions; the publicity, which publicizes our activities; the program ministry, which plans our activities; the special events ministry, which works out the details of our trips; and the telephone ministry, which notifies our members of the meetings and other important information.

Several of our Evergreeners work with other organizations as volunteers. Some volunteer at American Rehabilitation Ministry, which ministers to inmates in prison. Our people do not go into prisons, but they sort many types of greeting cards that are then supplied to the inmates. Others volunteer at Spring River Christian Village serving to assist the residents in many ways. One volunteers at the Webb City Library, working especially with genealogical research. Another volunteers at Magic Moments Horseback Riding Therapy, a therapeutic function for disabled and autistic children.

There is a place for you in this vital ministry. Please feel free to attend the meetings and get involved in being ministered to and ministering to others as a member of Evergreen.

“I really like the name ‘Evergreen’ for our Senior Group at CCC - ‘Forever Alive in Christ.’ We are never too old to serve or to be a part of a ministry.”

“Evergreen has been important to me ever since I placed my membership at CCC. Jim & Sonya Marcum have been there for me and all of us through sad, trying times and difficulties we face as ‘Seniors.’ Most of all, I’m blessed by their ability to show us how we can have effective ministries for Christ regardless of our situations or limitations. We receive encouragement to stay involved at CCC through teaching, serving, sharing our time and abilities and reaching out and volunteering in ministries in our communities. I have developed wonderful friendships, have fun, laugh and cry with a great group of Christians. ‘Evergreen’ has enriched my life!”
